The Sustainable Schools Network is a group of responsible citizens from multi-disciplines coming together on the basis of a shared interest in education and sustainability. Collectively, we see the need to CONNECT schools, teachers, students and communities to build partnerships for sustainable education. We intend to EDUCATE school communities to ensure the Australian Curriculum Cross-Curriculum Priority - Sustainability - is delivered in meaningful ways. And we will IMAGINE by showcasing local leaders and inspiring change through a future-focused approach to ensuring sustainability becomes an accessible mainstream practice.
In May 2019 we partnered with Somerset College and were sponsored by the City of Gold Coast and Griffith University to deliver the regions inaugural Sustainability Symposium. School communities gathered together to learn how to enact action plans within their local community using global concepts, such as the Sustainable Development Goals. The Sustainable Schools Network provides a regular journal, the SSN Journal, a monthly blog and regular networking and professional development opportunities throughout the year. We are also looking forward to partnering with local schools and organisations to support school communities to remain focused on providing a sustainable future for those we hold dearest: our children.
The SSN's first annual report is now available. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all schools, individuals, volunteers, organisations, and founding partners that have contributed to our foundation year. Together we are building partnerships for sustainability education.
Our Annual Report will be made publicly available soon.
The SSN are based on the Gold Coast, Australia. However our network spans from Northern NSW to North Queensland. We look forward developing meaningful relationships within this geographic region and beyond in 2020.
